Drone and UAS operator registration in Romania
In practice “drone registration” means registering as a UAS operator with AACR and marking the aircraft with the code you receive. It is not a city hall plate — it is the civil aviation authority flow.
Key information
- Registration is done on the AACR channel (uas.caa.ro), not in Drone Log.
- You receive an operator code to stick visibly on the drone.
- Under 250 g there are exceptions, but not for everything — airspace still applies.
- Natural and legal persons have separate portal flows.
- Flying without registration when required is non-compliant.
What this means for you
If your drone falls under registration duty, do not take off until the code is affixed. Then check zone and NOTAM like any other pilot.
Registration steps
- Open the AACR portal for UAS operators.
- Create the account and complete operator details.
- Pay the indicated annual fee and obtain the code.
- Mark the drone (and other fleet aircraft) with the same visible code.
- Keep registration proof; renew on time.

It depends on class/camera and current AACR/EASA rules. Many are exempt from registration, but not from UAS zones and NOTAM. Check your case on AACR.
The fee is set by AACR and can change — check the current amount on the official portal.
The operator code is recognised in the EU, but local zones and rules remain those of the country of flight.
Documents and operator responsibility differ; the flow is still on AACR with company data.
No. It guides what follows — map, NOTAM, requests — but registration is AACR-only.
