Drone under 250 g: real rules in Romania
Under 250 g simplifies some duties (often registration/certificate) but does not cancel airspace. You can have a DJI Mini “without a licence” and still be forbidden to fly in a CTR or through a NOTAM.
Key information
- Lower weight ≠ fly anywhere.
- UAS zones and NOTAMs apply fully.
- Operator registration depends on class/camera and current AACR rules.
- A1/A3 may still be required depending on aircraft and operation.
- MoND and CTR do not forgive sub-250 g.
What this means for you
Use the weight advantage for simpler paperwork, but run the same map check as a heavier drone pilot.
Sub-250 g checklist
- Confirm on AACR whether your model needs registration.
- Check C0/C1 class and A1 operation limits.
- Mark the point on the UAS map + NOTAM.
- If blue/purple zone, follow Annex 1 / MoND — regardless of weight.
- Respect privacy, people and max altitude.
