UAS guide Romania
AACR approval for drone flights
AACR is Romania's civil aviation authority. Some UAS zones require coordination or approval before flight — not nationwide, but for your exact point and operation type.
Key information
- Check the UAS map first — the requirement appears zone by zone.
- CTR and restricted zones usually need prior coordination.
- Prepare coordinates, window, altitude, drone and purpose.
- Drone Log generates the request draft; you send it officially.
- Do not take off without valid written confirmation.
What this means for you
If the map shows an approval requirement, treat it as a mandatory planning step. Send early and keep the reply — an informal chat does not replace the document.
Steps for AACR approval
- Check zone type at exact coordinates on the map.
- Note the contact / procedure shown for the zone (CTR, R, etc.).
- Prepare pilot, drone, purpose, altitude, window and route data.
- Generate the request draft in Drone Log and send it on the official channel.
- Keep written confirmation handy on flight day.
Frequently asked questions
When the zone or operation type requires coordination before flight — for example CTR or restricted zones. Check the map for the exact point.

Mark the point on the UAS map, check the zone type and NOTAMs, then see if an approval requirement appears.
Do not rely on verbal agreement. You need valid confirmation per the zone procedure.
For CTR usually at least 24–48h; complex procedures may need more. Check local requirements.
No. Separate flows. Military zones usually need MoND clearance on aerofoto.mapn.ro.
