UAS guide Romania

Drone restrictions in Romania: what to check

Restrictions come from permanent UAS zones, temporary NOTAMs, CTR and military areas.

Key information

  • Purple = military, usually MoND clearance.
  • Blue = restricted, prior approval.
  • Yellow = active NOTAM.
  • CTR = coordination with the control tower.
  • No coloured zone ≠ automatically free — check NOTAM.

What this means for you

If any layer shows a restriction at your time, treat the flight as blocked until it is clarified. Better to postpone than to enter airspace illegally.

How to evaluate a restriction

  1. Identify zone colour/type on the map at the exact point.
  2. Read altitude limit and conditions.
  3. Check whether MoND, Annex 1 or another contact is needed.
  4. Add the NOTAM layer for flight day.
  5. Decide: OK / needs approval / FORBIDDEN — and document it.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, for airspace and NOTAMs.

Only with the correct CTR procedure — the limits are on the map.

UAS map + NOTAM at the planned date/time in Drone Log.

Usually an active NOTAM — temporary restriction. Check exact hours and altitude.

Only if the zone rule explicitly allows it. Some zones ban the full vertical.

Not all. Also check local environmental rules beyond airspace.
