“Can I fly here?” depends on exact coordinates, planned altitude, date, and time — not just the city name. Area checks combine the Romania UAS map, NOTAM for your planned window, and, where applicable, approval or clearance steps.
What UAS zones mean on the map
- Permitted / open — subject to your category rules (A1 / A3 and A2).
- Restricted — extra conditions or prior approval.
- Prohibited — operation not allowed under normal rules.
- NOTAM activation — regime depends on active NOTAMs; see what NOTAM means.
Steps in order
- UAS zone map — identify the zone regime at your take-off point.
- NOTAM / PIB — for the planned window — see the NOTAM guide.
- Approval request — if the zone requires it — see drone flight approval request.
Checking in Drone Log
With a free account you set date, time, and duration, mark the point on the map, and see indicatively whether restricted zones or active NOTAMs appear. The result helps you decide — it does not replace competent authorities.
CTR and aerodromes
Near aerodromes, control zones (CTR) and extra UAS-layer restrictions may apply. Verify the exact point on the map, not just approximate distance from the city.
Common mistakes
- Checking only the city name, not the take-off point.
- Ignoring NOTAM because “yesterday it was clear”.
- Forgetting to compare local time with the NOTAM window (often UTC).
