A NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) announces temporary changes in airspace: danger areas, restrictions, works, or events. For drone flights, an active NOTAM at your planned place and time may mean postponing the flight — even if the UAS map looks clear.

NOTAM vs. UAS zone

UAS zones describe general regimes (restricted, prohibited, NOTAM activation). A NOTAM states what is active now: time window, altitude, radius. Check both; PIB and official sources remain the final reference. See also the drone area check guide.

Why planned time matters

A NOTAM may be active only between certain hours (often in UTC). In Drone Log you set the flight date and time; the map result is indicative — always confirm with NOTAM/PIB before take-off.

Practical steps

  1. Check NOTAM/PIB for your area.
  2. Run the drone flight area check at the exact coordinates.
  3. If the zone requires approval, see drone flight approval request.
